Delta Gamma

Recruitment Events

We participate in Panhellenic Formal Recruitment, which occurs each January during the week prior to the start of classes for the spring semester. Recruitment consists of four rounds: Arete, Philanthropy, Sisterhood, and Preferences. All of these rounds culminate in a Bid Day celebration on Sunday!

ARETE DAY

Recruitment begins with Arete Day, where you will meet all nine sororities at WashU. You will get to talk a few sisters as well as learn about the new member period. As a new member in DG, the new member period includes everything from sister dates, to bonding with your member class, to getting your big, to new member retreat! The new member period ends in March with Inspiration and Initiation. To learn more about our new member period, feel free to check out our New Member Calendar.

PHILANTHROPY DAY

For Philanthropy Day, you will attend up to seven parties at different sororities. During your parties, sororities will tell you a little bit about what causes and organizations they support and how they are involved on campus and beyond. Delta Gamma supports the Delta Gamma Foundation and Service for Sight, which help benefit the blind and visually impaired. Our main philanthropy event on campus is Anchor Splash, a relay race and synchronized swimming competition held in the AC every spring. We also host an event called Desserts with DeeGee where students and members of the community can buy desserts for a dollar or two.

SISTERHOOD DAY

On Sisterhood Day, you will attend up to five parties at different sororities in which each sorority will talk about their sisterhood and the variety of activities they do as a chapter. At Delta Gamma, you will hear from the sisters who organize our sisterhood events and social events. You will also hear from our Director of Social Awareness. We love spending time together, whether that's at a movie night in the suite or a crush party held downtown, and we can't wait to tell you more about it!

PREFERENCES DAY

For Preferences, you will attend up to two parties at different sororities. During our preferences ceremony, you will participate in a short ritual and listen to speeches from some of our sisters. You'll get a glimpse of what makes Delta Gamma truly special to us: our sisterhood, our unique values, and deep bonds of friendship that extend far beyond our years at WashU.

BID DAY

Formal recruitment ends with a fun-filled celebration on Bid Day, when you find out which sorority you'll call your home at WashU. After a Unity Day presentation and the Recruitment Counselor reveal with the whole Panhellenic community, you'll get to know your new sisters and participate in a short ritual to become official new members of our chapter.
